Homicide Investigation Leads to Arrest

Sheriff Martin reports that on 06/26/2023 at approximately 3:30PM an investigation was launched involving the shooting death of 63 year old Dale Eugene McEntire.  McEntire was found shot in his home that was located in Bellefonte.    The shooting was believed to have occurred sometime during the night before.  The investigation led to the gathering of information and evidence which identified 28 year old Donnie Calderwood, Jr. of Harrison as the person responsible.  Sheriff Martin said that the case was successfully solved by a joint effort of work conducted by his investigators, detectives for the Harrison Police Department and special agents with the Arkansas State Police.  Calderwood is currently being held without bond for Capital Murder and Aggravated Residential Burglary. 

Additional Information -

Through the course of the investigation it was discovered that Calderwood had been driving in a reckless manner and creating a disturbance within the residential neighborhood.  Calderwood's behavior reportedly led to a verbal confrontation between the two.  It is believed that Calderwood returned to the McEntire residence later that same evening and assaulted McEntire within his home.  During that process McEntire was shot and killed.  The court has reviewed the charges related to this case and has recommended that Calderwood remain in custody on a million dollar bond.
