On December 2nd, 2022, Investigators with the Boone County Sheriff's Office Criminal Investigations Division were contacted by the Newton County Sheriff's Office. BCSO investigators coordinated with the Newton County Sheriff's Office to assist them with an active, pending home burglary case in Newton County. Through their efforts and investigative practices, an investigator with the Newton County Sheriff's Office was able to draft a search warrant for a property located on Oxford Drive, in Boone County. Investigators from both departments executed the search warrant on the afternoon of December 2nd, 2022. During the execution of the search warrant, Investigators were able to recover thousands of dollars of property which had been reported as stolen. Some of the property recovered belonged to the victims of the Home Burglary in Newton County. Investigators were also able to identify property belonging to two other victims located in Boone County, whose property had been stolen from their separate storage units at Myer's Storage, located in Bellefonte. All of the victims which were identified were able to come to the site of the search warrant execution and collect their property, under the supervision of the investigators on scene. The Boone County Sheriff's Office is working in cooperation with Myer's Storage in Bellefonte to put an end to break-ins at the property. The owners of Myer's Storage paid for a high-tech video monitoring system, which has been installed at the property and have allowed the Boone County Sheriff's Office to have 24 hour access to live monitoring of that system. This investigation is active and ongoing, arrests are pending, and no suspect names will be released at this time.
