Sheriff Roberson reports that on 04/15/2021 Boone County deputies responded to a reported stabbing that occurred in Bellefonte.  The victim identified as 35 year old Ashley Crawford alleged that her boyfriend, 29 year old Charles L. Boone attacked her with a knife.  Crawford who is 27 weeks pregnant at the time of the assault was found to have multiple stab wounds and lacerations.  Crawford was immediately transported to the hospital for treatment.  The suspect in the case who was originally from Missouri fled the area in a black Mustang belonging to the victim.  Boone was located and taken into custody by the Springfield Police Department during the early morning hours today and is being held without bond.

An arrest affidavit was filed today for two counts of attempted capital murder.  Both the mother and the unborn child are in good condition at this time.  Law enforcement is awaiting extradition procedures to transport Boone back to Arkansas to face charges.
