Fatal - Structure Fire

On 01/08/2019 at approximately 6PM the Boone County Sheriff’s Department responded along with the Bergman and Zinc Fire Department to a reported structure fire on Rogers St. in Zinc, Arkansas.  The structure, which is a single wide mobile home was fully engulfed upon emergency units arrival to the scene.  Information provided was that the home owner was at a neighbor’s house when the blaze started along with 28 year old Cody Raulston.   Raulston along with the home owner and others attempted to combat the fire before fire department personnel could arrive.  Witnesses reported that Raulston went into the burning home in attempt to save the pet dogs that were inside but never came out.  One of the Bergman Volunteer Fireman was also injured during the blaze, which injuries were described as minor due to an exploding propane cylinder while fighting the fire. 

The Boone County Sheriff’s Department reports that a body suspected to be that of Raulston was recovered from the scene which has been sent to the Arkansas State Medical Examiner’s office and that the cause of the fire is still being investigated.
