Shots Fired Arrest

Sheriff Moore releases information regarding Boone County Deputies response to the area of Rock Springs Road to reports of shots being fired.  A witness reported that a male in a green hatchback passenger car had fired multiple shots with a firearm through the vehicles back glass towards the motorist.  Shortly following the initial complaint a second report came in to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office from a resident in the area that reported hearing gun shots in which their residence was hit while the home owners were inside their residence.

Boone County Deputies were able to locate a suspect vehicle matching the description given that also had a shattered back glass.  37 year old, James Allen Poston of Harrison was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a firearm.  Poston admitted to officers that he fired the shots at the vehicle, believing that an occupant in that vehicle was pointing a firearm at him.  Investigators believe that based on the evidence and circumstances of the events that Poston is also responsible for the shot that hit the home owner’s house as well as the assault to the motorist.  Poston who is a convicted felon and a registered sex offender is being held on a number of felony charges that includes unlawful discharge of a firearm from a vehicle and aggravated assault.  His bond was set by the court at $150,000.00.
