Boone County Sheriff's deputy Lt. Dennis Lea, recently attended a training course in Arlington, Texas, call "Gracie Survival Tactics". The techniques taught in the course provide officers with ways to control violent physical encounters with aggressive subjects while using the elast amount of force needed.
This training has been proven to reduce injuries both to officers and suspects. It give officers other options against unarmed suspects without using strikes, a TAZER or a firearm. A key element of the course is weapon retention so that a weapon is not introduced prematurely or taken from an officer.
Lt. Lea is now authorized to teach our local law enforcement and jail staff the techniques he learned. We hope this provides better law enforcement to our citizens.
