Two Fatalities In Accidental Fall at Bull Shoals Lake

On 06/05/2016 at approximately 6:37PM the Boone County Sheriff’s Department responded to Bull Shoals Lake at Diamond City regarding two males that had fallen from a bluff that is locally known as Devil’s Backbone.

Emergency response personnel responded to the location finding that 19 year old Casey Ruley of Harrison had died on scene as result of the fall.  19 year old Paul Andrew Woodruff of Harrison also fell from the bluff, reportedly went into the water but could not be immediately located.  Witnesses reported to the Sheriff’s Department that approximately a 5 foot section of the bluff where the two were standing collapsed that caused the fall.

With the assistance of the Arkansas Game and Fish Dive Team and the Harrison Police Department a search was conducted into the night without success.  At approximately 11am on 06/06/2016 divers did successfully locate Woodruff.  At this time both deaths are believed to be accidental pending the completion of the investigation.
