Sheriff Danny Hickman reports on an accidental shooting that took place Friday, February 3, 2010. Sgt. Calvin Dees and Deputy Justin Dearing were dispatched after a 911 call to the Sheriff’s office, reporting a gunshot victim at 10881 Diamond Road. Deputies received further information while enroute to the scene that the victim was outside on his front porch with a gunshot wound to his right foot. Deputies arrived at the scene and made contact with the victim, Brent Disney, who stated that he had been cleaning his guns when his New England 12 gauge shotgun discharged striking him in the right foot. Disney was transported by NARMC ambulance to the emergency room.
Deputies received consent from Disney to enter his residence where they located a 12 gauge shotgun lying on the floor beside the table in the kitchen of the residence. Another firearm was on the table with a cleaning kit.
All evidence indicated that the shooting was accidental. No report was available on Disney’s condition, but the injury sustained did not appear to be life threatening.
