Sheriff Danny Hickman is happy to report that the Boone County Sheriffs Office has arrested fugitive Tracy Waits, DOB: 05/02/1979, who was wanted in connection with a plot to kidnap Newton County Sheriff Keith Slape’s son. Waits was apprehended at a home in Lead Hill on Wednesday, January 13. Waits is being held at the Boone County Jail with a $1,000,000.00 bond.
Also arrested at the same location were 4 other persons; Cheryl Godfrey, DOB: 08/13/1953, Cindy Seeley, DOB: 09/17/1964, Cody Evans, DOB: 09/10/81, and Glenn Froehlich, DOB: 03/15/1980.
Both females denied having any knowledge about the location of Waits when initially questioned. Investigators later determined Waits had dinner with Godfrey on last Thursday and was staying in the house owned by Seeley. Based on this information Godfrey and Seeley were being held on a charge of Hindering Apprehension with a bond of $25,000.00 each.
Investigators viewed a surveillance video of a local business in Harrison and saw that Froehlich had been giving Waits rides to Harrison. Evans also had given Waits rides and had loaned Waits his cell phone to make calls with. Froehlich and Evans bother were charged with Hindering Apprehension and are currently being held at the Boone County Jail. Both were given a $50,000.00 bond.
