Sheriff Mike Moore is proud to show off the sweet potatoes to be used in the jail kitchen. Transport/Maintenance Supervisor, Roger Johnson, took several ADC 309 inmates to Wynne, Arkansas this week to pick up those sweet potatoes.
Cross County Sheriff J.R. Smith has assisted Boone County the last few years in the arrangements to pick up these potatoes. We appreciate his assistance a great deal.
Ben Eddings Auto Group loaned the Sheriff’s Office a diesel truck and trailer to haul these sweet potatoes back to Harrison. We want to offer our thanks and appreciation to them for their help.
5,620 pounds of sweet potatoes were brought back with an approximate market price of $5,339.00. Jason Day, Boone County Jail Administrator, says that this will result in a significant savings for the jail’s food budget. He is delighted to be able to offer these on the menu and proud to save the tax payers this money.
Once again, a special thank you from the Boone County Sheriff’s Office and Jail for all the folks that make this possible.
