The Boone County Sheriff’s Office, in cooperation with the Department of Homeland Security and Internet Crimes Against Children, served a search warrant at a residence on Peach Orchard Road early in the morning on Monday, June 24th.
Sheriff Mike Moore said the purpose of the search warrant was to locate evidence of child pornography and related electronic evidence. Computers and other electronic items were searched on site at the time of the search warrant. No one was home at the time and no arrests were made.
Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) is a cooperative effort of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies overseen by the Federal Justice Department. They fund several task forces across the United States and focus on fighting the sexual exploitation of children through electronic means, primarily the internet.
Sheriff Moore said this investigation is on-going and noted his office viewed the investigation of any incident involving the exploitation of children as being a high priority.
