Sheriff Danny Hickman reports the arrests of two suspects believed to have been involved in a burglary in Bergman that occurred on Saturday, December 10th.
According to a report filed by Sgt. Marc Arnold, he was called to assist the Bergman Police Department in the investigation of a burglary at the Tyson Feed Mill Saturday morning. Working on information from a security video, Bergman Police Chief Jim Thomas identified one of the suspects as Justin Lathrop, 19, who lived nearby. While Arnold and Thomas were at the residence questioning Lathrop, a second suspect was recognized from the video and identified as Matthew Connolly, age 18. Both Lathrop and Connolly were arrested and taken to the Boone County Jail.
During his interview, Connolly invoked his right to remain silent. Then while being transported to the jail, Connolly was allowed to view a still image from the security video and when he looked at the picture he said “That’s me”.
Sheriff Hickman said bond had not been set for the pair, but they were being held on charges on Burglary, Theft and Criminal Mischief. Hickman said it was likely the two were involved in a series of break-ins in Boone County which investigators had been working on and anticipated more arrests.
Inv. Jason Brisco interviewed Lathrop about another burglary at the 7th Day Adventist Church in Capps. As a result Lathrop will be charged with additional counts of Burglary, Theft and Criminal Mischief for the incident at the Church.
