It is time for the Sheriff’s Angel Tree again!! Sheriff Danny Hickman implemented the “Angel Tree” in 2000 and this will make the 11th year.
Teenager’s names are submitted by County school counselors to be on the Angel Tree. They are often overlooked at Christmas time in favor of younger children. Teenager’s siblings are also included with the submission of their names making these families great projects for civic groups, Sunday school classes or other group projects.
Numbers are assigned to each child so they remain anonymous. Numbers are placed on an ornament with information about that child such as age, clothing sizes, needs, wants & interests. Anyone wanting an “Angel” can read on the back of the ornament before they choose. A list is made of the numbers and placed in the lobby where the person choosing an “Angel” writes down their name and a contact number.
Persons choosing an “Angel” or “Angels” from our tree purchase gifts, wrap them, put the child’s number clearly on the package and return them to the Sheriff’s Department by December 21. The week of Christmas, Deputies from this department deliver those gifts to the children.
This program has been a success for many years and we would invite the public to come and brighten some child’s Christmas by giving gifts for one of our “Angels”.BooneCountyhas always responded to this program with big hearts and we appreciate everyone who participates each year!
