Sheriff Danny Hickman reports that the Boone County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division along with the 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force, received a call from a property owner in the northern part of Boone County about marijuana growing on his property. When Investigators arrived, they located over 320 marijuana plants in a secluded part of the property. The land owner, who is an avid hunter, said he had game cameras set up on the property and caught someone on film carrying a large black trash sack full of what he though was marijuana. This alerted the landowner to look for the suspected narcotics on his property.
During the course of the investigation, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) was contacted to use an Army National Guard Helicopter to fly the property in an attempt to located more marijuana. Investigators also determined the identity of the person caught on camera which led the investigation to Marion County. Investigators with the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Boone County Sheriff’s Office, and the 14th Judicial District Drug Task Force, executed a search warrant on a residence belonging to 51 year old Gerald Freeman of Yellville. Investigators seized over three ounces of processed marijuana, items of drug paraphernalia, and other narcotic drugs. Freeman was taken into custody late Thursday evening and was being held at the Marion County Sheriff’s Office without bond.
Freeman will be extradited back to Boone County to face charges of Manufacturing a Controlled Substance and Criminal Trespass.
