Sheriff Danny Hickman reports that the Boone County Sheriff's Office received a call from the Omaha School Monday, March 14th, 2011, about a break in that occurred over night. Boone County Sheriff's Deputy David Upton responded to the call and discovered three individuals had made entry into the Fine Arts Build at the school and had stolen four Dell Laptop computers. During a review of the surveillance footage from the cameras at the school, Investigators were able to determine the identity of one of the suspects.
Investigators located the juvenile suspect at his residence where he immediately confessed to the crime and officers took him into custody.
Further investigation determined the identity of the other two suspects and 19 Year old Justin Mansfield of Omaha and 19 year old Kayla Dumont of Brixey, MO, were located at another residence inside the Omaha City Limits. These two individuals matched the description of the individuals captured on camera and assisted investigators in getting all of the stolen property recovered and returned back to the school. It was determined in formal interviews with the suspects that the three had also broken into the school on March 10th, 2011 and stolen two of the four laptops, then returned 4 days later and stole the other two computers.
All the individuals involved in the school break in were charged with two counts of Commercial Burglary and two counts of Theft of Property. Mansfield and Dumont are both being held at the Boone County Jail on a $10,000.00 bond.
The juvenile suspect in this case was released to legal guardians awaiting his court appearance.
