Sheriff Danny Hickman reports that arrests were made in connection with a robbery that occurred early Sunday morning in the Capps Community.
According to a report filed by Sgt. Marc Arnold, two young men reported they were told to get out of the car they were riding in and threatened if they didn’t give the driver of the car their money and cell phones. The two young men gave the driver their property and were left on the side of the road, uninjured. Investigators following up on leads in the case identified a suspect and officers with the Harrison Police Dept. were able to locate an apartment on Cottonwood Road where they believed he was hiding. The resident at the apartment allowed the police to enter and this was when they saw the robber hiding under a bed with his girlfriend.
Daniel Keith “Shorty” Jones, age 27, was taken into custody without incident and the 16 year old girlfriend was also taken into custody because she was listed as a runaway. The female runaway was returned to the custody of the State. Officers also discovered the components of a methamphetamine lab in a portable kit, which Jones had with him at the time.
Investigators continued to follow leads to find the stolen property, which led them to a house on West Sherman Street in Harrison. At that house investigators from the Sheriff’s Office and officers with the Harrison Police Dept. executed a search warrant where they found the phones stolen in the robbery, as well as a loaded handgun and numerous bags of marijuana packaged for sale.
The resident of the apartment, Charles Eastridge, age 50, was taken into custody and is being held in the Boone County Jail awaiting charges of being in possession of stolen property as well as drug and firearms charges.
Sheriff Hickman said he anticipated other arrests would be made in connection with the incident, and noted that the successful conclusion of the case was due, in large part, to the cooperation between the Sheriff’s Office, the Harrison Police Dept. and the 14th Judicial Drug Task Force.
