Sheriff Danny Hickman reports that on 08/23/2010 the Boone County Sheriffs Department along with the Arkansas State Police recovered the body of 45 year old Lisa Marie Davis. Her body was recovered from her property located at 9921 Terrapin Creek Road where she and her husband Morris Dean Davis (age 60) have lived since 2003.
The investigation was initiated when officers received information concerning suspicious circumstances surrounding her disappearance with the involvement of her husband. The investigation led to a search warrant that was executed on the Davis property. Officers were also able to locate Morris Dean Davis and took him into custody for questioning.
As officers were searching the property Davis was being questioned by investigators about his wife’s disappearance. Davis eventually confessed to investigators that her body was on the property which led to officers finding Mrs. Davis’ body buried in a shallow grave that was partially encased in cement. Davis initially lied to law enforcement about her disappearance and then later changed his statement to say that his wife had committed suicide and that he buried her on the property to keep her close.
The body has been submitted to the medical examiner’s office to determine cause of death. Investigators believe that they have collected evidence in this case that along with information about an internet relationship that Lisa had with a friend may have provoked the act.
Davis is being held at the Boone County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond and has been charged with 1st Degree Murder, Abuse of a Corpse, and Tampering with Evidence. Investigators located over 100 marijuana plants on the Davis property so Davis will face an additional charge of manufacturing marijuana.
